The BIG Breakthrough at Celtic Connections!!

In celebration of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, The BIG Project is delighted to be performing songs at Celtic Connections and The Usher Hall, Edinburgh (with support from Creative Scotland) including an exciting new piece of music  which has been written by our Music Tutor, Kim Edgar - and it's all about the Olympic and Paralympic values - excellence, friendship, respect, determination, courage, equality and inspiration! 

It's an unusual piece in that we hope that you, the audience, will help to perform it! So to find out more about the audience singing and body percussion role, check out a YouTube video here, and learn some parts of the commission in advance of the concert from Kim and The BIG Project's children's choir.

The piece is centred around our children's choir, but also features four other fantastic singing groups (with us, representing the five Olympic rings!)...if you'd like to find out more about them, you can click on their names below:

The premier of the commission, Breakthrough, takes place as part of an hour-long show in celebration of the Olympics and Paralympics, called The BIG Breakthrough! on Monday 23rd January, with a free schools concert at 11 am in Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and an evening performance at 7 pm in the Mitchell Library. 

There will also be an Edinburgh performance of the piece at The Usher Hall on Wednesday 21st March 2012, at 1.15 pm.
